Description

Calcium L-aspartate is a compound that is used in analytical toxicology, as it has been shown to have a pressor effect and can be used to measure the benzodiazepine receptor. The binding of calcium L-aspartate with benzodiazepine receptors leads to an increase in blood pressure, which is the desired effect for treatment of menopausal symptoms. It has also been shown to decrease plasma concentrations of vitamin D3, which may lead to bone loss. Calcium L-aspartate binds to organic solvents more effectively than calcium carbonate, which may be due to its higher affinity for these compounds. In cell culture studies, calcium L-aspartate has been shown to stimulate growth factors such as erythropoietin and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1).
