Description

Chlorofluoroacetyl chloride is a quinoline derivative that is used as an insecticide. It is an acyl halide and inhibits the cellular target of the parasite. Chlorofluoroacetyl chloride also has been shown to increase the expression of cytochrome P450, which is a class of enzymes involved in xenobiotic metabolism. This chemical can be used to synthesize a variety of amides, including chloroformate, chloropropionate, and acetoacetoxychloride. The activation energies for the reactions are found to be in the range of 10-40 kcal/mol. Chlorofluoroacetyl chloride has been shown to inhibit human liver microsomes (HLM) and rat liver microsomes (RLM). Inorganic chlorine was found to react with hydrogen fluoride to form hydrogen chloride and hydrochloric acid, which may explain its effects on rat liver microsomes.
