1-(4-Chlorophenyl)-2-fluoroethanone is an ionic liquid that is a good source of fluoride ions. It is used in organic chemistry as a fluorination reagent and in analytical chemistry as an ionic liquid. 1-(4-Chlorophenyl)-2-fluoroethanone can be used to prepare eutectic mixtures with other ionic liquids. This compound can also be used to synthesize organic compounds by nucleophilic substitution reactions or by the addition of nucleophiles to aryl ketones. 1-(4-Chlorophenyl)-2-fluoroethanone has been shown to be effective in the production of acetophenones and anhydrous acetophenones.
