Description :
4-Chloro-7-fluoro-6-nitroquinazoline is a synthetic sulfoxide that has been shown to be an effective cancer treatment. It is a nucleophilic agent and binds to the DNA of cancer cells. 4-Chloro-7-fluoro-6-nitroquinazoline is also used as a starting material for other drugs, such as 2,4,5,6-tetrafluoroquinazoline. The synthesis of this drug is by the reaction of 2-amino-4-fluorobenzoic acid chloride and ethylene with chloroform in the presence of nitrobenzene. This product can be synthesized in two different isomers, one with the chloride at position 4 and one at position 7. This product also has a use in organic synthesis as it can be used as a source of chloromethyl radicals by reacting with thiocarbonyl compounds.
