4-Chloro-5-Dimethylamino-2-[3-(Trifluoromethyl)Phenyl]Pyridazin-3-One is a xanthophyll pigment that has been shown to accumulate in the plastids of plants. It has been shown to inhibit nuclear DNA replication and translocation in low light conditions, as well as enzyme activities involved in fatty acid synthesis and plant metabolism. 4,4'-Dichloro-5,5'-dimethyl-2-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)pyridazine (4CDMP) is an herbicide that is not toxic to animals or humans. It prevents the formation of chlorophyll a., which is important for photosynthetic activity. This chemical also inhibits carotenoid biosynthesis by interfering with the conversion of β-carotene into vitamin A.
