Description

Alpha-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-[(4-fluorophenyl)methyl]-1-piperidineethanol (CPFPE) is a neuronal death agent that inhibits the NMDA receptor and blocks the mitochondrial membrane potential. It has been shown to induce muscle spasms in mice, and it can be used as a model system for studying the effects of drugs on muscles. CPFPE has been shown to have side-effect profiles similar to those of ifenprodil, an antagonist of NMDA receptors. CPFPE has also been shown to bind to the NMDA receptor with high affinity and act as a competitive antagonist. This drug binds to the protein at its binding site, which is located on the outer surface of the receptor’s channel pore.
