4,6-Dimethylthieno[2,3-b]pyridin-3(2H)-one is an organic compound that reacts with malononitrile to form a piperidone. The reaction proceeds via a 1,4-addition of the nitrile group and the formation of cyclohexanone. 4,6-Dimethylthieno[2,3-b]pyridin-3(2H)-one also reacts with piperidone to form a cyclohexanone.
