Description :Decylubiquinone is a quinone that is an electron carrier in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. It is used as a model system to study the effect of quinones on cellular processes such as enzyme activity, cytosolic Ca2+ levels, and metal chelation. Decylubiquinone has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial respiration and the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in HL-60 cells. This drug also has pharmacological properties, including anti-inflammatory activities, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes.
