Styrene derivatives are functionalities that have been introduced into the styrene molecule. The hydrogenated group includes monomers of polystyrene, which has a polymerization degree of 100. Styrene derivatives in the benzene nucleus group include 1-(Benzyloxy)-4-ethenyl-2-methoxybenzene (BEM). BEM is an aromatic compound that is used as a catalyst for many reactions in organic synthesis. It is more reactive than other palladium catalysts and can be used to synthesize nitroarenes from azides. In addition, it adsorbs coexisting substances such as alkenes or nitro compounds on its surface, making it easier to separate them from the product.
