Description

Megastigm-7-ene-3,5,6,9-tetraol is a potent inhibitor of the peptidylarginine deiminase enzyme that regulates arginine levels in cells. It binds to the active site of the PAD enzyme and blocks its catalytic activity. Megastigm-7-ene-3,5,6,9-tetraol is an antagonist of Ligand binding to receptors such as GABA A receptor and alpha 1 adrenergic receptor. This compound is also an activator of ion channels involved in calcium influx. Megastigm-7-ene-3,5,6,9-tetraol has been shown to have potential as a research tool for studying protein interactions and receptors without interference from endogenous ligands.
