9,10-Dihydrophenanthrene is a chemical compound that is stable in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of a protein kinase and the activity of an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of glycine to serine. 9,10-Dihydrophenanthrene has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of hepatitis C virus replication and cervical cancer cell growth. The basic structure of 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene contains a hydroxyl group at position 2, as well as a proton at position 3. The molecule is planar and symmetric about the central carbon atom. 9,10-Dihydrophenanthrene contains a molecular weight of 342 g/mol and has a melting point at 204 degrees Celsius.
