Description

N,N-Diethylnipecotamide (DENA) is an amide that interacts with carbonyl oxygens and proton. DENA has been shown to have a bond cleavage in the hydrogen bonds with amines, which is the most likely mechanism for its interaction. It also has a nonpolar solvation and is zwitterionic, which means it can be dissolved in both polar and nonpolar solvents. DENA is also used as an animal feed additive because of its amide group. The amide group is hydrophobic, meaning it does not dissolve in water and will not mix well with water-based solutions.
