Description

2,6-Diisopropylphenyl isocyanate (DIIS) is a group p2 molecule with two nitrogen atoms. DIIS is used as a cross-linking agent to form hydrogen bonds between proteins and other molecules. It also reacts with amines, such as those found in proteins and nucleic acids, to form stable, covalent bonds. The synthesis of cholesterol acyltransferase has been studied using DIIS as the starting material. The reaction products were analyzed by crystallography and electrochemical studies.
