Description

1-[3-(3,4-Difluorophenyl)-3-Pyridin-2-Ylpropyl]-2-[3-(3H-Imidazol-4-Yl)Propyl]Guanidine (1DIPG) is a centrally acting antihistamine with dual activity at H1 and H2 receptors. It has been shown to significantly reduce the growth of smooth muscle cells in the heart and to decrease blood pressure in hypertensive rats. 1DIPG has also been shown to possess long term therapeutic efficacy for congestive heart failure, as assessed by its ability to maintain camp levels and cardiac function. 1DIPG binds with high affinity and selectivity to histamine h1 receptors, but not to histamine h2 receptors. This agent is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are found primarily in the liver. The elimination half life of 1DIPG is approximately 10 hours following oral administration.
