Description

Histidine is a non-essential amino acid that is involved in many biological processes, including protein synthesis and cell signaling. It is also an important component of enzymes such as histidase. Histidine has been shown to bind to the active site of valine dehydrogenase (an enzyme involved in the metabolism of valine) and inhibit its activity. This binding is reversible and leads to a conformational change in the enzyme structure, which alters the enzyme's ability to bind with other molecules. The interaction between histidine and valine dehydrogenase can be studied by means of NMR spectroscopy, where it was found that binding occurs at low temperatures and flips out at higher temperatures.
