2,6-Dichloroanisole is a chemical compound that is used as an extraction solvent. The product of the reaction between pentane and 2,6-dichloroanisole is pentanal, which can be converted to 1,3-butanediol by the use of hydrogen chloride. Pentanal has been found to be a useful industrial chemical because it has a variety of applications such as being used in perfumes. The cleavage products of this compound are chloroform and dichloromethane.
