• Description: Fertirelin is a potent analog of the naturally occurring hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Fertirelin stimulates the release of gonadotropins from the pituitary gland and has been used in the treatment of infertility. This drug also stimulates epidermal growth factor (EGF) production, which may be responsible for its physiological effects on fatty acid metabolism. Fertirelin has been found to stimulate follicular growth in women undergoing fertility treatments with estradiol benzoate. The use of Fertirelin is contraindicated in patients with a history of ovarian cysts or breast cancer. It should not be administered to pregnant women due to its potential for adverse effects on fetal development.
