Dnp-Pro-OH is a peptidase inhibitor that inhibits the activity of collagenase, an enzyme that breaks down the protein collagen. Dnp-Pro-OH can be used to inhibit the breakdown of collagen in animals and humans. This inhibitor has been shown to be effective in solid phase synthesis, which is a technique used to produce large quantities of peptides and proteins. It is also used for functional studies and in tissue culture. Dnp-Pro-OH has been shown to inhibit basophilic leukemia cells and chloride channels, preventing the movement of chloride ions across cell membranes and leading to cell death.
