This drug has been shown to be neuroprotective in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases. 2,5-Dichloropyrimidine also blocks the production of nitric oxide by binding to the factor receptor and prevents activation of the growth factor. The drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.
