3,4-Dihydroquinolin-1(2H)-amine is an antidepressant agent. It is a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of depression, as well as neuropathic pain and symptoms. 3,4-Dihydroquinolin-1(2H)-amine can be used for the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders such as depression or psychosis. It binds to the human serotonin transporter and blocks the reuptake of serotonin, increasing its level in synapses. This agent also modulates dopamine neurotransmission by blocking dopamine transporters. 3,4-Dihydroquinolin-1(2H)-amine may cause adverse effects such as nausea or drowsiness when taken orally at high doses.
