Description :3,5-Dinitrosalicylic acid is a strong organic acid that is used as a reagent for the detection of starch. It reacts with the amylose and amylopectin in starch to form a blue or violet color. This reaction can be measured using titration calorimetry or complex enzyme solutions. The 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid is also used in analytical methods to determine the purity of nitro compounds by measuring their proton content. 3,5-Dinitrosalicylic acid can also be used to detect carboxylic acids by forming an intermolecular hydrogen bond with them.
