Description

Diethylsulfamoyl chloride is a sulfonamide that belongs to the class of deuterium isotope effect. It is an inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase, and has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as leprosy and tuberculosis. The drug inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the activity of matrix metalloproteinase. The drug also inhibits bacteria from producing hydrochloric acid and nitric oxide, which are required for bacterial cell division. Diethylsulfamoyl chloride can be used in combination with other drugs, such as hydrochloric acid or nitrofurantoin, to treat infections caused by mycobacteria and other pathogens that are resistant to antibiotics.
