Description

1-(2,3-Dimethylphenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione is a polyfunctional compound that can be used as a monofunctional or multifunctional crosslinker. It is resistant to heat and has been shown to react with maleimides. 1-(2,3-Dimethylphenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione is reactive with N-succinimidyl-3-(maleimidopropionamido)propionate (SMP), which is a monofunctional crosslinker that reacts with amine groups. In the presence of SMP and maleimide, 1-(2,3-dimethylphenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione will form a stable amide bond with a protein. This reaction has been shown to be more selective than reactions involving other crosslinkers such as glutar
