2-(1,3-Dioxo-1,3-dihydro-2H-isoindol-2-yl)-3-methylpentanoic acid is an organic compound that is chiral. The structure of the molecule is similar to that of the amino acid alanine. It has been shown that irradiation can produce a racemic mixture of this compound. Chiral compounds are optically active and have two nonidentical mirror images.
