Mahanimbine is a natural compound that belongs to the group of monoterpenoid indole alkaloids. It has been found to have antioxidant properties in skin cells and mitochondria, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of malonic acid. Mahanimbine is also a potent inhibitor of human cyp3a4, and has been shown to bind to nitrogen atoms in the mitochondrial membrane, causing depolarization. This drug has not yet been tested for its biochemical or biological properties in humans, but has shown promising results when used on hl-60 cells in a model system.
