• Description: 2',6'-Dichloroacetophenone (2,6-DCAP) is a chemical that is used as an herbicide. It has phytotoxic properties and inhibits photosynthesis by inhibiting the conversion of carbon dioxide into carbohydrates. 2,6-DCAP is used to control weeds in agricultural crops, forestry plantations, and urban areas. 2,6-DCAP can be found in two different isomers: 2',4'-dichloroacetophenone and 2,4-dichloroacetophenone. The former has a greater toxicity than the latter due to its higher fluorine content. 2,6-DCAP can be identified using chromatographic methods such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This chemical can also be modified to create pyrazoles or isoxazoles. These modifications make it more effective as an herbicide by increasing its solubility in water or reducing its volatility.
