Description

6,8-Dibromoimidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine is a compound that can inhibit the growth of tumor cells. It has an inhibitory effect on cancer cells and is able to induce aberrantly growing cells to return to normal. 6,8-Dibromoimidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine has been shown to have hydrogen bonding interactions with nucleophilic groups in cancer cells. This interaction inhibits the synthesis of DNA by preventing the formation of a 3'-5' phosphodiester bond in DNA replication. This agent also inhibits inflammatory diseases by inhibiting the production of growth factors such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). 6,8-Dibromoimidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine has been synthesized using quantum theory and can be titrated using a rotameric method.
