2-(4,6-Dichloropyrimidin-5-yl)acetaldehyde is a reagent used in the synthesis of drugs. It is an industrial chemical used as an intermediate in the production of sodium borohydride, which is used in the large scale synthesis of pharmaceuticals. 2-(4,6-Dichloropyrimidin-5-yl)acetaldehyde reacts with sodium borohydride to produce 2-(4,6-dichloropyrimidin-5-yl)ethanol, which can be converted to other compounds.
