- Benzene, 1,4-Dibromo-2-Methoxy-
- 2,5-Dibromoanisole
1,4-Dibromo-2-methoxybenzene is a nontraditional electrophile that reacts with nucleophiles to form products. It has been shown to react with butyllithium in an electronically controlled reaction. The reaction proceeds in a broad temperature range and is highly selective for electron-deficient olefins. This electrophile has also been used to synthesize bifunctional molecules, which are important in the design of new organic devices such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). 1,4-Dibromo-2-methoxybenzene can be activated by trimethylsilyloxy groups and introduced into the molecule using a bifunctional reagent.
