3,5-Dinitrobenzyl alcohol is a synthetic compound that is used to synthesize other chemicals. It can be used in industrial processes as an efficient method for the synthesis of potassium thioacetate. 3,5-Dinitrobenzyl alcohol reacts with chloride to form ethyl esters and potassium chloride.
