Description :
2',4'-Dihydroxy-3,4-dimethoxychalcone is a flavone that is synthesized from 2,4-dihydroxy-3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and sodium hydroxide. It has antioxidant properties that can be attributed to its ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species such as hydrogen peroxide. This compound has been shown to have antioxidant activities in vitro and in vivo, which are due to the reactivity of the hydroxyl group with reactive oxygen species. 2',4'-Dihydroxy-3,4-dimethoxychalcone has also been shown to prevent oxidative cyclization and cyclization reactions when it reacts with ethanol molecules.
