- DIDS
4,4'-Diisothiocyanatostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid disodium salt (DIDS) is a transcription inhibitor that binds to the bacterial RNA polymerase. DIDS also inhibits HIV infection by inhibiting the production of viral proteins essential for the assembly and release of new viruses. It has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial activity and induce apoptosis in T cells, macrophages and human monocytes. DIDS is used as an inhibitor of reactive oxygen species production in activated macrophages. DIDS has also been shown to be effective against multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease.
