Description

(1S)-4,5-Dimethoxy-1-[(methylamino)methyl]benzocyclobutaneHydrochloride is an intermediate for the synthesis of ivabradine. It is a white solid with a melting point of about 180 °C. The solvents used in this reaction are formamide and 1-bromo-3-chloropropane. The product is purified by recrystallization and then converted to ivabradine by hydrolysis of the acetal moiety using hydrochloric acid. (1S)-4,5-Dimethoxy-1-[(methylamino)methyl]benzocyclobutaneHydrochloride can be used as a pre-treatment to increase the efficiency of industrial processes.
