Description :
1,3-Diethylbenzene is a petrochemical that is used in the production of pesticides and pharmaceuticals. 1,3-Diethylbenzene undergoes oxidative degradation under aerobic conditions to produce benzoic acid and benzaldehyde. The activation energies for the reactions are high, which indicates that the process is endothermic. 1,3-Diethylbenzene may also undergo hydrogenation with a fatty acid to form an aromatic hydrocarbon. The synergistic effect of 1,3-diethylbenzene with other chemicals has been studied in rats.
