3,4-Dimethoxyphenylacetylene is a solvent that is used in organic chemistry. It has been shown to be neuroprotective when administered to mice with induced brain injury. 3,4-Dimethoxyphenylacetylene hydration has been shown to increase the activity of terminal alkynes and methyl ketones, which are important for the synthesis of nucleophilic compounds and conjugates. This compound also has a stereoselective effect on hif-1α. 3,4-Dimethoxyphenylacetylene can react as both a nucleophile and a carbanion.
