Description :
1,3-dimethyl-2-(2-thienyl)imidazolidine (1,3-DMI) is a carboxaldehyde that can be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. 1,3-DMI has been shown to catalyze the formation of aldehydes and ketones from acid chlorides and alcohols. 1,3-DMI is also an important intermediate in the synthesis of imidazolidine derivatives and guanidine derivatives. It is synthesized by the reaction of methylamine with benzaldehyde or furfural.
