It has been shown to inhibit the uptake of halides by soil microorganisms and may be used as an alternative to trifluoroacetic acid. 2,6-Dimethylanilino(oxo)acetic acid was modeled using molecular modeling software and showed potential use with polyamine oxidase. The phylogenetic tree of 2,6-dimethylanilino(oxo)acetic acid was analyzed to determine the sequences present for this compound in organisms such as cyanobacteria and plants.
