• Description: 2,5-Dimethoxy-4-[(4-nitrophenyl)azo]benzenediazonium chloride hemi(zinc chloride) salt is a triazine compound that is used to treat trichomoniasis. The compound reacts with the active site on Trichomonas vaginalis, which is the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of 2,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid to 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid. This reaction product inhibits the enzyme's activity and prevents the conversion of 2,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid to 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid. The products are activated by bacterial strain and histochemical staining. Diazonium salts can be used as a reagent in analytical chemistry to determine amines in urine samples or other organic solvent extracts. They react with primary amines to form an azobenzene derivative that is soluble in organic solvents
