(3S,3aS,5R)-3,8-Dimethyl-5-prop-1-en-2-yl-1,2,3,3a,4,5,6,7-octahydroazulene is a compound that inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in cell culture and to have antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. (3S,3aS,5R)-3,8-Dimethyl-5-prop-1-en-2-yl-1,2,3,3a,4,5,6,7 octahydroazulene has also been shown to inhibit the production of farnesyl diphosphate by inhibiting the enzyme farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase. This inhibition leads to an accumulation of farnesyl diphosphate which may be toxic to cells. The
