The 1,14-diamino-3,6,9,12-tetraoxatetradecane (DAOT) molecule has been extensively studied as a model system to study topological and gelation properties of polymers. It is an acrylate polymer that can be synthesized by the reaction of acetonitrile with a mixture of diamines and triacrylates in water. The DAOT molecule is homogeneous and has low molecular weight, which makes it suitable for use in optical studies. Furthermore, the DAOT molecule does not have any cross-linking points or speckles because it has no side chains.
