Description

(9Z)-9-Dodecen-1-ol acetate is a synthetic compound that has been used in biological studies. It can be prepared by the reaction of hexane with 9-dodecenoic acid and is an analog of dodecanol. This compound has shown potential as a chemical pesticide, but its use is limited by the fact that it is easily degraded by light and oxygen. (9Z)-9-Dodecen-1-ol acetate has been found to have an inhibitory effect on lepidoptera, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of proteins in these insects. The chemical analysis of this compound has been carried out using GC/MS. The geometric isomers are determined through HPLC and IR spectroscopy.
