Description

Dodeca-2(E),4(E)-dienoic acid isobutlamide (DEIAI) is a fatty acid amide that has been shown to have immunomodulatory effects. It has been tested in vitro and in vivo, with promising results. DEIAI has been shown to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). These two cytokines are responsible for the recruitment of inflammatory cells, which can lead to an immune response against the cancerous cells. In addition, DEIAI inhibits the uptake of fatty acids by caco-2 cells. This inhibition leads to an increase in apoptosis rates and an inhibition of cell proliferation.
