4-Dimethylamino-N-phenyl isothiocyanate is a molecule that can be used to detect fatty acid content in biological samples. It is synthesized by reacting carbaryl with dimethylamine and 4-dimethylaminophenyl isothiocyanate. The detection sensitivity of this molecule is high, and it has been used for the analysis of fatty acids in various matrices. 4-Dimethylamino-N-phenyl isothiocyanate has also been shown to inhibit the growth of Ornithonyssus bacoti and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which are important insect and bacterial pathogens. This molecule also inhibits the production of amines, which may be due to its supramolecular chemistry.
