Di(propylene glycol) butyl ether (DPEBE) is a chemical that belongs to the group of adrenergic receptor agonists. It is used to treat infectious diseases by activating the adrenergic receptors, which are found on cells of the immune system. This activation leads to an increase in production of specific cytokines and chemokines, which help to fight against the invading pathogens. DPEBE has been shown to be effective against inflammatory diseases such as asthma and arthritis, as well as nitrogen-containing drugs. The mechanism of DPEBE is not yet known, but it can be broken down into two steps: first it reacts with water vapor in the air, then it reacts with a fatty acid to form a linear model, which is then cleaved by hydrogen bonds.
