Description :
10,11-Dibromo-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,d][7]annulen-5-one is a dibenzosuberenone that has been used as a UV light filter. It can be prepared by the debromination of 10,11-Dibromo-5H-dibenzo[a,d][7]annulene with hydrochloric acid. The debromination reaction gives off hydrogen bromide and acetonitrile in addition to the desired product. This monomer is also useful for its acidic properties, which catalyze reactions involving electron transfer from an organic molecule to an acid.
