Description

Dehydro nisoldipine is a drug that belongs to the pyridinoid class of drugs. It has been shown to be a potent vasodilator and in some cases, it has been used as an antihypertensive drug. Dehydro nisoldipine is a prodrug, which means that it is metabolized into its active form, nisoldipine. The phenyl ring on dehydro nisoldipine is hydroxylated by CYP2D6 to produce an intermediate compound, which then undergoes oxidation by CYP3A4 to form the final product, nisoldipine. This process leads to a higher degree of variability in the concentrations of dehydro-nisoldipine and its metabolite, nisoldipine.
