L-2,4-Diaminobutyric acid, dihydrochloride is a chemical compound that is a non-protein amino acid. It is used in the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and has been shown to be able to penetrate the blood-brain barrier. However, it also has many other health effects such as increasing fatty acids in the brain and decreasing GABA uptake. L-2,4-Diaminobutyric acid, dihydrochloride can be used for diagnostic purposes or animal health.
