• Description: 5a-Dihydrocortisol is an endogenous hormone that has been shown to have a wide variety of effects in the body, including the regulation of blood pressure and collagen synthesis. It also has been shown to enhance protein synthesis in human liver cells and promote the breakdown of fatty acids. 5a-Dihydrocortisol binds to a specific receptor in the cell membrane, which can activate or inhibit intracellular signalling pathways. This drug has been shown to be active against nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as indomethacin, which are often used for osteoarthritis.
