2,4-Dihydroxy-5-methoxyacetophenone is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of methylated chromenes. It can be prepared by methylation of acetophenone with dimethyl sulfate and cyclisation with potassium hydroxide in ethanol. 2,4-Dihydroxy-5-methoxyacetophenone is a precursor for the synthesis of antihypertensive drugs, such as methyldopa and clonidine.
