• Description: N-(2,6-Diisopropylphenylcarbamoylmethyl)iminodiacetic acid is a monosodium salt that has been shown to be an inhibitor of the energy metabolism in cells. It is a structural analog of adenosine and inhibits the enzyme adenosine deaminase, which converts adenosine into inosine. Inhibiting this enzyme leads to increased levels of adenosine in the cell and causes depletion of ATP, resulting in cell death. N-(2,6-Diisopropylphenylcarbamoylmethyl)iminodiacetic acid has been shown to have therapeutic potential for autoimmune diseases such as primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). This compound also blocks T-cell activation and proliferation by inhibiting protein kinase C and cyclic AMP response element binding protein, leading to decreased inflammation.
